About the Boypower Dinner
The Boypower Dinner is where the Council raises 26% of its annual budget. Your attendance will assist in the Boy Scouts' continued success. Plus, with a contribution of $1,250 or more, you'll get to meet Steve Forbes at a private VIP reception before the dinner. You can contribute to the Boypower Dinner 2009 by contacting the Hiawatha Seaway Council to purchase tickets. Contributions may be made in cash or as a pledge.

Speaker: Steve Forbes

Steve Forbes is President and Chief Executive Officer of Forbes and Editor-in-Chief of Forbes magazine.
Since Mr. Forbes assumed his position in 1990, the company has launched a variety of new publications and businesses. They include: Forbes FYI, the irreverent lifestyle supplement; Forbes Global, the magazine's international publication; and Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Brazilian, Russian, Arabic and Hebrew editions of the magazine. Forbes also publishes the Gilder Technology Report, as well as a number of investment newsletters.
In 1997 Forbes entered the new media arena with the launch of Forbes.com. The site now attracts over seven million unique visitors a month and has become the leading destination site for business decision-makers and investors.
Honoree: Dr. David Smith
SUNY Upstate Medical University
Dr. David R. Smith was appointed the sixth president of SUNY Upstate Medical University in June 2006. Prior to his appointment at SUNY Upstate, Dr. Smith served as the Chancellor of the Texas Tech University System; Interim Chancellor and President of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center; President of the Health Sciences Center and former Dean of its School of Medicine. Prior to that, Dr. Smith served for five years as the Commissioner of the Texas Department of Health.
With an institutional mission to provide healthcare, education, research and service, SUNY Upstate is the only academic medical university in Central New York State and the largest employer in the region. As a health care provider, it directly serves 1.8 million residents in 17 counties, an area covering about 1/3 of New York State’s land mass. Through its four colleges and research enterprise, SUNY Upstate positively affects thousands more, and provides a well-educated supply of health professionals to New York State. Read more.
Chairman: David M. Aitken
Destiny USA
David M. Aitken has served on the Destiny USA Team for the past seven years, working to implement a multi-faceted initiative within the Syracuse Lakefront Area.
Prior to joining the Destiny USA Team in March of 2002, David directed the redevelopment of Syracuse’s Lakefront, heading the Lakefront Development Corporation. Aitken was formerly the Deputy Commissioner of Aviation at Syracuse Hancock International Airport and spent the two previous years working in City Hall in the Mayor’s Office.
David graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor?s Degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in American Politics; as well as a Master Degree in Higher Education. David and his wife Kerri live in Jamesville, New York with their four children - Samantha, Tyler (a Lion Scout in Pack 156), Joshua and Amanda.
David is an Eagle Scout who has served on the Executive Board of the Hiawatha Seaway Council and the Boypower Dinner Committee for the past several years.
