About the Boypower Dinner

The Boypower Dinner is where the Council raises 26% of its annual budget. Your attendance will assist in the Boy Scouts' continued success. Plus, with a contribution of $1,250 or more, you'll get to meet Steve Forbes at a private VIP reception before the dinner. You can contribute to the Boypower Dinner 2010 by contacting the Longhouse Council to purchase tickets. Contributions may be made in cash or as a pledge.

2008 Council Fact Sheet

Longhouse Council is one of the geographically largest Councils in the country, serving five counties in central and northern New York.

During 2008, the Longhouse Council continued to serve over 13,500 youth and adults with a continued growth in membership

During 2008. Longhouse Council's Lions Cub program for kindergarten age youth grew to 300 new members (first Council in New York State to have the program).

In 2008, our annual Scouting Popcorn campaign sold more than $880,000 of product.

The Longhouse Council operates two camping facilities, Camp Sabattis in Tupper Lake and Camp Woodland in Constantia. In total nearly 3,000 acres of land encompasses these two facilities.

In addition, the Longhouse Council operated several Cub Scout Camps throughout the central and northern New York.

Well over 1,900 Scouts attended Boy Scout short and long-term camping programs during 2008.

Our total Scout youth membership contributed over 34,000 hours of community service last year just with the Longhouse Council.

Our average Scout volunteer gives approximately three hours a week towards the program. With over 5,200 volunteers, this equates to over 15,600 hours donated per week, 811,200 hours per year.

During 2008, 84 Boys in the Longhouse Council earned the Eagle award.  This is Scouting’s highest youth recognition, earned nationally by only 4% of all Scouts.
